It is called a Memorial Garden. The town donated the land, and it is left up to the ones who volunteer to maintain it. The local schools send their community service clubs to the garden twice a year to help these parents. They come in the fall to get it prepared for the winter, then in the spring they return to plant beautiful flowers.

What a gift it has been to see these young children, full of life, come to help us maintain the garden. They give us hope in our darkest our of despair. For those of us who no longer have children, it makes us feel whole again to see other children taking the time and effort to brighten our day.

This post is part of the MAT@USC Hope for the holidays event.
